FM Derana sends letter of demand to SLBC Chairman

FM Derana through its attorneys has sent a letter of demand to the Chairman of the SLBC yesterday. The letter states that the SLBC providing pre publicity that it will broadcast the cricket commentary of the 2011 World Cup even though the rights to do so has been granted to FM Derana is an infringement of intellectual property rights.
In a media briefing held on February 01 at Colombo FM Derana officially announced that it has been awarded the official Sri Lankan radio broadcaster of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.
However the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC) repeatedly kept on publicizing that they would broadcast the cricket commentary for the upcoming World Cup.
Therefore FM Derana through its attorneys the ‘Capital Law Chambers’ law firm has sent the Chairman of the SLBC a letter of demand (LOD) informing them to avoid such advertisements in the future and also to provide compensation for losses sustained by the company as a result of the SLBC’s actions.
